I am pleased to announce that one of our recent design projects - an eight inch optically clear glass dome for an underwater housing - is going into production. On Friday last (April 17, 2009) I met John Ellerbrock, president of GATES Underwater Products Inc down in Point Loma at the SeaBotix Inc factory where he was using their pressure vessel to test a series of sample domes by repetitive dives to 350 psi (equivalent to approx 786ft / 240m). All the domes passed with no problems and so it is on to production. The domes will be used on the new DEEP RED housing for the RED camera. SubAqua Imaging Systems Inc designed the dome and the sealing and seating mechanism.
